1500 Palestinian detainees on hunger strike

The Palestinian minister of prisoners' affairs said on Saturday that 1,500 Palestinian prisoners would join a mass hunger strike on Sunday, as he warned of the deteriorating health conditions of more than 100 who have been on strike for over a month.
The PA officials said Israeli occupation authorities and the striking detainees have not engaged in serious dialogue so far, even as the health conditions of these detainees continue to deteriorate.

Some 120 Palestinian administrative detainees launched a hunger strike on April 24 to protest their continued detention without trial by Israeli authorities. Administrative detention orders can range from one to six months in length and can be extended by up to five years by Israeli military courts.
Human rights groups have denounced the administrative detention.
Palestinian officials s have called Arab leaders for the immediate intervention and prevent from worsening of the situation.
